Trim Levels (Exterior)
The exterior features of the Tundra are state of the art, and the best way to get the ones you care about most is to look at the different offerings across its five available trim levels. At the base level, the SR trim already comes with quite a few impressive features, including a black grille, LED headlights, and 18-inch steel wheels. Upgrade to the SR5, and you get alloy wheels instead as well as a deck rail system and LED fog lights.
With the Limited trim level, the Tundra comes outfitted with 20-inch gray-painted alloy wheels and heated power-folding side mirrors with a reverse tilt-down feature. If that's not enough, the Platinum trim changes the wheels to a dark gray alloy and includes LED headlights with auto-leveling adjustment. Finally, the 1794 Edition trim boasts a unique paint job and interior inlays to celebrate the founding of Toyota's Texas ranch factory.
Engine (Power)
Two engines are available for the Tundra, and they both pack some serious power you can enjoy when behind the wheel. The first engine is an i-Force 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 with a massive 389 horsepower with 479 pound-feet of torque. If that's not enough, you can opt for the hybrid version that pairs the aforementioned engine with an electric motor producing 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The key to performance in a pickup truck is in its capability, and the towing and payload limits of the Tundra are certainly impressive. Its maximum towing capacity is 12,000 pounds, while the maximum payload capacity is 1,940 pounds when properly equipped. If you choose the hybrid engine, the capability limits are a bit less but are still impressive with a maximum towing capacity of 11,450 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 1,680 pounds.
Interior
While the interior of the Tundra is utilitarian and aesthetically pleasing no matter which option you choose, the 1794 Edition has an array of unique interior features including wood accents. You can also enjoy extensive cubby storage for all the extra gear you need to bring on your next trip. In terms of technology, the standard infotainment screen is 8 inches, but you can upgrade to a horizontally oriented 14-inch touchscreen if you like, which is larger than all other trucks in its class can offer.
Safety Features
Quite a few safety features come standard on the new Tundra, like adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is standard too, and it comes complete with rear cross-traffic alert. Two of the most impressive standard systems are forward collision warning with automated emergency braking and lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist.
