Innovation. It’s something we all look for in a company to support and it’s something for which Toyota has become well known – it’s one reason the company is a leader in the development of hybrid vehicles, like the 2016 Toyota Camry Hybrid Sedan and the 2016 Toyota Prius V Five-Door Wagon Two. This year marked the second consecutive year Toyota earned the distinction of having more patents issued to it by the United States Patent and Trademark Office than any other automobile company. In 2015, Toyota received 1,636 patents and over the last eight years has been awarded more patents than any other automotive company. This achievement illustrates the company’s commitment to ever better cars that achieve greater safety, environmental and technological advancements.
To be known for these innovations is a good thing not only for a company but as customers of the company and that’s why we here at Toyota of Muncie love to bring these great products to you.
Toyota is the only automaker listed among the top 20 on the IPO list. Other key innovators in the top 20 include Apple, Google, IBM and Microsoft, according to a press release issued by Toyota.

By now everyone has most likely seen the fantastically entertaining Toyota Prius commercial, The Longest Chase, showing a group of bank robbers having to rely on stealing a Prius model from a random driver after their getaway car has been towed. The Super Bowl commercial showed the four thieves that the 2016 Toyota Prius is more than just a fuel efficient car. It’s also a model that has sufficient power and performance to elude police in a cross country chase. The successful commercial launched the #gopriusgo campaign online, which gave the chance for some social media users to have their Tweets featured in a post-game spot sponsored by Toyota.
If the Longest Chase commercial got you thinking about the need to own a Prius, then be sure to visit Toyota of Muncie and take a look at the various models on our lot, including the 2016 Toyota Prius V Five-Door Wagon Three. The new Prius V (which stands for versatility) Wagon is wider and longer by a good six inches, which provides about 60 percent more cargo space than previous Prius models. The new Prius V Wagon, a five passenger vehicle, has 34 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, but when folded down that space expands dramatically to almost 68 cubic feet, which is about the size of some smaller SUVs, increasing the attractiveness of the vehicle. The center console opens to reveal a large bin that can store numerous items. In addition to the plentiful cargo space, there’s plenty of headroom for taller drivers, or parents leaning in to strap children into car seats.

The new Toyota technology is being showcased at the International Consumer Electronics Show. Technologies on display include:
- Next generation connected service systems such as Agent+, which leverages multiple factors including day, time, location and driving history to predict likely destinations and help guide you there quickly and efficiently.
- The Mobility Teammate Concept, which demonstrates Toyota’s more than 20 years of research and development into automated driving technologies. The vehicle showcases Toyota’s approach to automated driving – building relationships between people and cars to help them team up in pursuit of safe and enjoyable driving. This approach acknowledges the utility of automated driving technologies while maintaining the fun experience of driving itself.

With so many people concerned about their carbon footprint and the state of the environment, it’s natural when it comes to searching for the right automobile, the buyer will be interested in finding the best model that protects the environment. When it comes to environmentally-friendly models, buyers don’t have to look much further than Toyota, a company that has been leading the way with environmentally-friendly vehicles, including the 2016 Toyota Prius V Five-Door Wagon Three, available here at Toyota of Muncie. But, Toyota certainly isn’t done with its environmentally friendly task. The company released an environmental to-do list that’s sure to please most buyers.
The company outlined five priority issues – carbon, water, materials, biodiversity, and outreach in its environmental guide.
Some of the company’s successes include Toyota’s Georgetown assembly plant now generates green power from local landfill gas, enough for the production of 10,000 vehicles per year. Toyota’s North American facilities reduced, reused, recycled or composted over 96 percent of non-regulated waste during calendar year 2014. Toyota’s plant in Alabama is the first in North America to reuse batteries from end-of-life hybrid vehicles as stationary energy storage. Using these batteries gives them a second life and keeps them out of landfills.
Other environmental highlights include more than 130,000 trees were planted at Toyota’s Indiana assembly plant between 2008 and 2014. In 10 years, when these trees reach their peak, they will be capturing and storing 2,170 tons of CO2 from the air annually. Also, Toyota’s assembly plant in Mississippi planted four pollinator gardens last year; all four were certified by Monarch Watch as monarch waystations. Waystations offer habitat for the monarch butterfly, whose numbers have declined 90 percent in the last two decades.
If these environmental milestones sound good to you, come learn more about the environmentally-friendly vehicles here at Toyota of Muncie.
