Safety fans rejoice – and we know there are plenty of you in Indiana. Toyota is adding a fantastic feature to its new cars by the end of 2017. By the end of next year, almost all new Toyota models, from the least expensive to the highest price, will feature the Toyota Safety Sense packages, which are anchored by automatic emergency braking (AEB). Toyota modes that will not feature the automatic braking system are the Toyota Mirai (not available here at Toyota of Muncie) and the Toyota 4Runner, the company announced.
The release will put Toyota ahead by four years of the 2022 industry target announced last week by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The Toyota Safety Sense Package features three proprietary safety technologies and combines a camera and laser beam for enhanced performance and reliability. There are a number of features included in the system, including the pre-collision system. That system uses the camera and laser to detect automobiles in the front of a vehicle. If the system determines a collision is imminent, it will take action by alerting the driver with a sound and visual alarm. If the driver doesn’t respond, the system will begin braking the car. Lane departure alert tells the driver if he is drifting from his lane and will alert him to the situation.
Toyota and the great staff here at Toyota of Muncie love safety features and we’re always glad to share those with customers. One of our current models known for its safety features is the 2016 Toyota Camry Four-Door Sedan, which was rated a Top Safety Pick for 2016 by the IIHS. The 2016 Toyota Camry Four-Door Sedan comes with several standard safety features, including antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front and rear side airbags, front knee airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and a rearview camera.

When it comes to taking the 2016 Toyota Tacoma off road, drivers will appreciate that the model comes with Crawl Control, a feature that keeps the truck at a low and pre-set speed that allows the driver to focus on more difficult navigation.
Not only has the exterior and engine seen some upgrades, the interior of the 2016 Toyota Tacoma has also been improved. The interior now features materials that are softer to the touch, rather than the hard plastic material on previous models.
