Toyota Commercial Stresses Dangers of Distracted Driving

Monday, July 13th, 2015

No matter how often drivers see and hear information on the problems of distracted driving, we still find time to sneak a peak at our mobile smart phones when we’re behind the wheel –especially after hearing whatever notification sound bings out to alert us of a text message, a Facebook comment or anything else that would interest us. Despite all the warnings we see and hear day in and day out, we still chance it. Toyota has addressed this in a new commercial airing in Sweden explains that calling on Apple’s SIRI will immediately turn the system’s digital helper against the driver and put the mobile phone in Airplane mode.

Car Seat Safety Tips for Your Toyota

Wednesday, July 8th, 2015

There are certain times of year every family hits the road to visit friends and family. Before each trip we, at least many of us, make check lists of the items we need to take to make our trip as comfortable as possible. If you have smaller children, then you certainly know the importance of bringing along whatever can keep them occupied on those long road trips.

2015 Toyota Sienna

When you’re piling your children into whatever vehicle you own, be it the 2015 Toyota Sienna , the 2015 Toyota Tacoma, the new 2015 Toyota 4Runner  or any other model you have, you’ll also want to remember some basic safety tips in addition to your inventory of sundries you’ll be taking – especially if your children are still riding in a car seat. The great staff here at Toyota of Muncie, as well as the corporate staff at Toyota through the Buckle Up for Safety program, have a few reminders for car seat safety:

  1. Always use the “Inch Test” and the “Pinch Test”.  Pinch the car seat strap near the child’s shoulder; if you can pinch a wrinkle in the fabric, tighten the strap until it is snug. For the “Inch Test,” grab the car seat from the back and bottom and tug from side to side and front to back.  If the seat moves more than an inch in either direction, tighten it.
  2. Never add towels or extra layers between the seat and your child. Extra material could interfere with the seat’s ability to restrain the child in the event of a crash.
  3. Take time to cool off; then buckle up. If the car seat is hot because of high summer temperatures, take some extra time to cool the car down before placing your child in the seat. Never leave children alone in the car, especially in the summer, when temperatures can escalate dangerously in a matter of minutes.
  4. Don’t rent a car seat. When you rent a seat you don’t know important facts about its history that could affect its ability to protect your child.
  5. Secure loose items in the car. These objects could become projectiles in the event of a crash.

Improve Fuel Economy, Buy a Fuel Efficient Toyota Camry

Thursday, July 2nd, 2015

As gasoline prices dipped last year, more and more drivers relaxed and hit the road more often on driving trips, but, if you’ve been watching the prices at the pump, it’s clear some drivers may think twice about road trips this year. There are a number of recommended things drivers can do to improve the fuel economy of their vehicle, including regular engine maintenance such as tune up, which can improve gas mileage by an average of 4 percent, or keeping tires properly inflated, which can improve your gas mileage by up to 3.3 percent. Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage by 0.3 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires the US. Government noted.

Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE

Of course, one way to improve your fuel economy during these times of higher gasoline prices is to purchase a fuel efficient vehicle, such as a hybrid. The Camry name has always been synonymous with style and dependability, and that’s something that the staff here at Toyota and Scion of Muncie are happy to show off to perspective buyers. Come to the lot and take a look at the exceptional 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid XLE, a perfect car for the fuel-economy minded family or individual.
