Toyota Releases New Off-Road Pickup Truck

Off-road lovers gear up and get ready. Toyota has just released the Toyota Tacoma T/X Baja Edition. The Baja made its debut at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, a geographically ideal launch pad considering that Tacoma production recently relocated to San Antonio.

But while the off-road pickup truck may hail from Texas, it's made for more than just the desert. "It's the type of truck that will shine in a Texas ranch environment, or on a Midwest hunting trip, off the highway in a California desert, or anywhere, east or west, where the roads are rugged,"1 said Toyota division boss Bob Carter.

In order to handle every "rugged road" it encounters, the Tacoma Baja is packed with these Toyota TRD Off-Road features:

            -Electronically controlled locking rear differential
            -Active Traction Control
-Hill Start and Downhill Assist Controls

At first, the T/X Baja Series package will be available on the Tacoma Access and Double Cab 4-by-4 models but may eventually expand to the PreRunner. Sitting up two inches higher than the stock version, the Baja enables more than an extra inch of travel in the coil springs and racing shocks.

The Tacoma T/X Baja is a limited-edition and will be in production for only two months during spring 2012. Make sure to check back with Toyota of Muncie at 3311 N Nebo Muncie, IN to see exactly when the Baja becomes available. In the meantime, you can test drive our current 2012 Toyota Tacoma or any other new Toyota model.
